Fall is just around the corner! Yikes. This summer has flown by so fast that now I keep finding myself making mini "bucket lists" of things I want to do before it is completely over. Some of the ideas are pretty un-doable (another road trip...), but some are quite check-off-able. One think I really wanted to do was see a killer summer concert. Lucky for me my buddies in the Donnas went on tour with Blondie and Pat Benatar, and as they rolled through the Midwest, I was able to catch an amazing show! Thanks girls!

Aside from the tix, I was also treated to a delightful video of the Ds getting their scramble on! I went from feeling accomplished, to feeling overwhelmed quicker than you could say "Heartbreaker." My list just got longer! I have got to get on some good rides before the summer ends! I can't just drop everything to become a "ride warrior," so I will have to combine it with the ever present task of finding amazing clothes...

The fashion calendar just seems to be getting more and more confusing. I've already posted a bunch of stuff for S/S 2010, but fall hasn't even sprung yet. Going back and looking forward, I've paired up a few of my favorite rides of all time with some looks from one of my favorite A/W 09 shows. ATO displayed an amazing crop of bomber inspired looks that get my Adrenalin going. In case I don't make it on every ride to get my pulse racing, I can jump-start it in these fine aeronautical silhouettes.

This week was hard for Cali, but not all is lost. On Sat. night, Sergio Garcia beat out all the female competition and was voted prom queen at Los Angeles' very own Fairfax High School. As he said in his election contention speech:

"At one time, prom may have been a big popularity contest where the best-looking guy or girl were crowned king and queen. Things have changed and it's no longer just about who has the most friends or who wears the coolest clothes, sure, I'm not your typical prom queen candidate. There's more to me than meets the eye." 

In honor of Sergio, let's take a look at some gender-bending and ground-breaking silhouettes found in Pairs during this past Fall's fashion week. Kilts, Skirts, Koolots , Gauchos...whatever you call them, they're here. Get used to it.

ONCE UPON A TIME...

Through the looking glass and into the woods, across the seas and over the moors. An English professor once told me that any story ever expressed was either 1) "a journey" or 2) "a stranger comes to town." I believe that fairy tales are both, and every good fairy tale should have a prince charming.

I've always adored the classics as viewed through a modern lens. Reapproaching archetypes with an "if they knew then what we know now" attitude can benefit both our understanding of them and ourselves. 

While trying to be a modern prince charming, it helps to look back at atypical princes and heroes. I attempt this with my jewelry line (You Macbeth) and J.W. Anderson does this with his F/W 09/10 collection. It is completely gorgeous, like a fairy tale picture book of what is yet to come. Take a look and see, then become your own P.C.

As part of the "Antwerp Six," a lot may be expected of Mr. Bikkembergs, and man did he deliver for Fall! I could never decide if Posh Spice or Sporty Spice was my favorite...seems now I don't have to choose. This collection is like a Bentley doing it with a soccer ball.  I llurve it. It touches on fetish, it oozes luxe. The graphics and colors are great, and the gold trophies along the runway...fuggedaboutit. Its nice to see some sportswear in ready-to-wear.  I'm so ready to break out the track pants. Not ready for fall yet, his Spring collection was kinda hot too.

FABU-TUDES FROM FERRAGAMO

I haven't even had time to digest how great the Spring line from Ferragamo is (thanks to all the rain on the East Coast flooding all thoughts of warmer weather out of my brain)...and now the Fall line is starting to make me go F* crazy. Massimiliano Giornetti has taken some flack for his collections, but I, for one, am a fan.

While looking at the two collections side by side, I noticed some fabulous attitudes (fabu-tudes) that I would love to flaunt. There are five specific moods that I'm dying to try, no mater what the season is or feels like. I've paired looks from each season that I think evoke a similar feel...then color coded them...you know...for clarity.

A LINE WITH SEOUL

These shoes were the  first thing  I saw from this amazing designer.  The low-top style is featured in the S/S campaign and look so good I had to find out more!  After what looks like a few seasons of amazing pieces, I am hooked.  I love the knits, embellishments, cuts, fabrics, textures, groupings...it's just the best.  Take a gander, the clothes speak better for themselves.

FASHION FOR THE BIRDS - FALL/WINTER 09/10

Yesterday, I headed over to my dad's place to relax and watch some cable TV.  I just needed to get away from my own space, clear my head, maybe use the gym.  Now, my father is a nature lover.  He is an avid hiker and goes all around the globe with my stepmother taking in different sites and trails; he has a new deck to the back of his home that jets out into the wood; he has even climbed a glacier with my brother. Naturally, he also has a slew of bird feeders around his place.  I'm not one to climb a glacier, but I do enjoy watching the feeders from time to time (especially when the squirrels get too close and my father reaches for his BB gun). 

Now, as  I was sitting in his big comfy chair filling my belly with food and my brain with The Real Housewives of New York City, I couldn't help but notice out of the corner of my eye the most insane parade of ravenous spring birds attacking the feeders.  My theory is:  It was probably the snow in April that made their instincts go crazy.  I could have tested this theory, but, I figured I would just start taking fashion shots of all the birds that were catwalking at the feeder.  This whole situation made me think of how anomalous fashion is - showing Fall clothes in the Spring and Spring clothes in the Fall.  I sat there pondering the birds and the methods of fashion, and decided what Fall looks my new Spring friends might be rocking...
